A busy week

It has been, an insane week. Our house is now under contract and in less than a month we will be out of our home. We are crazy busy trying to work out where we want to be, how we are going to transition and what we are going to do. So, instead of writing a post I thought I would post pictures, here is our last two weeks.

That’s me – I’ve got the fear. I think its the combination of finally selling the ridiculous four wheel drive and getting the real estate photos online that has prompted it. Its kind of like this “Yippeee its finally happening” and then “Holy SHIT! What the fuck are we thinking!”. I mean, we are uprooting our family – causing great stress to all of us if I be honest – to do something which could fail in a big way. I have never grown even nearly enough to feed my family. I don’t know how to preserve or can food, there were a few good relishes I made back in the 90′s (yes, I am showing my age), but my jam was a complete disaster. I wouldn’t know the first thing about cattle or fruit trees or many vegies for that matter. I am very much a ‘trial by survival’ gardener – if it survives, plant more, if it doesn’t move it to a different spot or don’t bother. My partner will be away for 5 days a week for at least the first 6 months of our move. I will be dealing solo with a new location, new school, not to mention a whole new life. The idea that we could be failures, end up back where we are, or even worse off is hard. So, we may be crazy and even though I have the fear, still we are “moving forward”. What will be will be.

Busy, busy, busy

And so on, and so forth! My life really does seem full at the moment and I have to say, it is (mostly) a wonderful feeling. On the downside I am on the go ALL the time and really need a few extra hours in the day – if you know where I can find them please feel free to tell me. I have a few half written blog posts which aren’t quite ready yet, but really want to share the two pieces I have been working on this week.
The first is a bag, the idea for which sprang from my love of opshopping and the colour purple. I bought this pair of purple jeans almost a year ago. They were two sizes too small, so I had no hope whatsoever of ever fitting into them! Then I decided to attempt making bag with them and this is the result:
I love it because its purple and its 100% from recycled fabric – the reverse fabric being from a pillowcase I found at another op shop. You can see more pics of the bag (and buy it if you really like it) in my etsy shop
The other piece is a custom mei tai made for a friend.
This was interesting as I have never bothered with a hood before.
I think it turned out really well.
After having such success with this I am considering doing a custom mei tai every few weeks, especially seeing as no one is actually buying my designed ones as yet! Watch this space!
